As of 1 June 2019, our prices will be going up as follows:

Why the increase?

In order for us to continue providing the great customer service that we do, a 100% South African manufactured quality product made by South African hands and created with the finest organic materials, we need to raise our prices when our business calls for it. Instead of trying to cut corners, we’ve decided to continue committing to our original set of values – to provide the very best baby carrier that we can, to care deeply for our customers feelings and to use our business to give back and make a difference.

A new way to pay – 6 weeks, interest free!

Over the next few days we’ll be introducing a new payment option on checkout – this will allow you to pay your baby carrier off over 6 weeks (interest free!) and get your carrier delivered to you immediately after your first payment. We’ll send out an email when that payment option goes live.

UB Happiness Fund donates R28,115.26 to date and our new ‘Giving Back’ model.

Since we launched Ubuntu Baba in February 2015, we’ve been able to donate a total of R28,115.26 to charity. This money has been collected via our UB Happiness Fund – which was previously supported by our limited edition baby carrier sales. 10% of the total selling price of each of those carriers went directly into that bank account, and we were able to do some wonderful things with that money to help Mothers and children in South Africa. We donated to One Small Act of Kindness, Operation Smile and the Cape Digital Foundation – all organizations that our close to our heart.

Going forward, we have decided to re-structure this model, so that each product you purchase from us, has an impact.

From 1 June 2019, we’ll be donating R16 from every purchase, no matter how big or small the purchase is.

Whether you buy a doll carrier, a set of teething pads or a baby carrier – your purchase will have an impact.

We are very excited to have implemented this change because it’s going to add up to a lot more money at the end of our business year – and we’re in this to make a change. Our country and the entire world is at a point where we absolutely must stand up and help to make a difference.

As a business – we have a responsibility to you, and to ourselves to get involved and do what’s right.

At the end of the day – you can rest assured that you’re investing in a brand that cares about you and your baby just as much as we care about our own families. As our favourite quote says;

“There is no single effort more radical in its potential for saving the world than a transformation of the way we raise our children.” ~ Marianne Williamson

We hope you will continue to support us as we move into the latter half of 2019.

Much love, Shannon & the Ubuntu Baba team. xx
